General
Merix Scholars is designed for Latin American middle and high school students who aspire to gain admission to top universities in the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, or New Zealand. Our program is ideal for families seeking expert guidance, scholarship support, and long‑term preparation for highly competitive admissions.
Ideally, students begin the Merix Scholars program 2.5 to 3 years before university enrollment, typically at the end of Grade 9 or the start of Grade 10. This timeline allows for strategic academic planning, extracurricular development, testing, and scholarship preparation. However, we also work with older students on accelerated timelines when appropriate.
Merix Scholars offers a comprehensive, long‑term, and highly personalized model rather than last‑minute essay editing or application submission. Our team includes former admissions insiders, faculty members, and doctoral‑level experts, and our process integrates academics, extracurriculars, testing, funding strategy, essays, interviews, and enrollment, all fully aligned around a student’s unique profile.
Every student we have supported has been admitted to at least one of their top six university choices. Our students have received offers from institutions such as MIT, the University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins University, Georgia Tech, and NYU, often accompanied by significant scholarships.
Yes. A core component of the Merix Scholars model is funding and scholarship strategy, with special attention to opportunities available to Latin American applicants. We help students identify merit‑based, need‑based, and country‑specific scholarships, prepare competitive applications, and coordinate timelines to maximize financial outcomes.
Every student receives one‑to‑one advising and a fully customized plan based on their academic strengths, interests, background, and long‑term goals. From course selection and extracurricular strategy to essays and interviews, all guidance is tailored to ensure a coherent, authentic, and competitive application profile.
The Merix Scholars program includes guidance for up to six university applications, following our ABC Strategy:
2 Aspirational (reach) universities
2 Balanced (best‑fit) universities
2 Contingency (safety) universities
This structure balances ambition with realistic outcomes and strong admission probabilities.
Merix Scholars advisors are American and British admissions experts with backgrounds as university faculty, alumni, doctoral researchers, and university admissions strategists from institutions such as Georgetown University, the London School of Economics, and the University of Florida. They combine insider knowledge with academic rigor and mentorship.
Merix Scholars continues supporting students through offer comparison, scholarship evaluation, funding decisions, visa documentation, and enrollment confirmation. Our goal is not just admission—but ensuring the best academic, financial, and long‑term outcome for each student and family.
Yes, Merix advisors work with students with broad ranges of abilities and backgrounds. Every student is different! A Merix advisor will meet with your family to determine if Merix is a fit for your student. Merix Scholars welcome any student who is willing to work hard and commit to the Merix program to learn more.
